It has been a crazy couple of weeks. We have made the move, and except for some “staging” furniture in the other house, everything made it, and we have most of our boxes unpacked…I have missed a lot of days running. However, I think moving, lifting and unpacking boxes is a different kind of workout; and it is a beast!
Here are a couple of pictures…
This is the view from the windows in the living room in the back of the house. The water is part of Great Bay, and is tidal. This is high tide. At low tide, it is a little creek, through a mud flat. It is still beautiful then. We haven’t had nice weather since our 2 moving days, and like everywhere else, it has been unseasonably warm. That helped tremendously during the move. Now we are ready for snow!
Lily doing some homework on the dock. It is pulled up for the winter. We can kayak off the dock or use a dingy to get to a deep water mooring–only during low tide. The neighborhood has a shared access dock which makes the deep water mooring accessible anytime. We can’t wait to test it all out in the spring. All the docks are out of the water in preparation for winter.
OK, I am getting the biggest kick out of this…same view from the back of the house…check it out, those are BUFFALO! There is a buffalo farm across the water. Currently, they have 2 buffalo. I want to name them. They come and graze every afternoon. The former owners said they have wondered over into the yard on occasion during low tide. Seriously, I can’t make this stuff up. I promise to get better pictures. They are HUGE. I am kind of obsessed.
Lily and I cut down our Christmas tree. It was kind of sad to go on our own. We had a time crunch. Dave was in Taiwan with work (did I tell you he was in Paris the week before we moved, home for the 2 days of the move, and then off to Taiwan…) Hunter and Delaney had to study for tests. We originally set out to get a cut tree, but it was cheaper to cut one down. So we did it. We were quite proud!
It certainly looked bigger when we were cutting it down-ha! The kids and I decorated the tree pretty much before the house was unpacked. Priorities! It is cute. And, yes, we have put up some Christmas lights.
I have been exploring new running routes. It is hilly, but beautiful. My legs are going to get strong! Boston training week one has not been the greatest. I have missed 2 days, including the first, due to moving and unpacking. However, moving and unpacking boxes DOES count as strength training. Seriously, my whole body is tired and sore. We hired movers for a “garage to garage” move–one day. Thanks to family and friends, we got the rest done ourselves! I have been logging in over 18,000 steps each day on my Garmin Vivoactive! I am looking forward to exploring new running routes–I have to remember to bring my phone to take pictures.
As of today, the kids are on vacation, I have 2 weeks off from the piano lessons I give (just a recital on Sunday), and Dave is home. Time to settle in! More pictures to follow 🙂
Merry Christmas and happy holidays!
What is your favorite holiday decoration? I have a thing for Christmas trees. I usually have multiple trees up. One of my favorite things to do is to read a book by the tree at night…which brings me to my next question.
Have you read any good books lately?
