Where did this weekend go? It was an interesting one here, that’s for sure.
My weekend mindset started on FRIDAY. Why not? I decided to get my long run in on Friday, because snow was predicted for Saturday, and I knew Sunday would be busy. I wasn’t feeling up for getting up early to log in miles before music rehearsal.
So Friday I did 14 miles. It was a great day, 30*, NOT WINDY!! No snow! All in all, it was a good run. It felt like spring! It also felt good to have the long run completed early in the weekend.
Then Saturday. Well, to start it off, the kids had school (1/2 day) because it was the school’s annual auction. It was hard to get up, and get ready for school on a Saturday. The kids handled it like troopers (they basically watched movies and ate food), but it was still a bummer. The fact that it was snowing and cold didn’t help. The auction was fun, the kids survived…The rest of the day was spent looking for fabric for a dress my daughter wants to make, and a songfest of sorts, as the girls sang songs from musicals (while I accompanied them). (Hunter was at an orchestra competition).
Sunday, started with church, grocery shopping, cleaning, LAUNDRY…I had asked Dave if he could take a look at the hot water faucet in the downstairs bathroom–it wasn’t working. Well, soon we heard yells for help…The faucet came off and water was shooting up ALL OVER THE BATHROOM. The water shut-off valve didn’t work. After shutting off the water to the entire house, and using EVERY towel, the
leak geyser, stopped and he was able to fix it. Kind of. It was kind of funny–did I mention it was HOT water shooting out? But on the bright side, the floor was cleaned.
Then we woke up this morning to NO HEAT. It was 12* outside, and 55* inside. Thank goodness it is spring! Luckily, it we had just forgotten to turn it back on after the faucet debacle. So we were really eager to get in the car to drive the 40 minutes to school with our heated seats…ahh!
Speaking of spring, it is the first day of spring track. Brrr-rrr. Our practice track (not a real track, an oval in the grass around the soccer field, with only a paved strip on one straight way for hurdles, sprints practice) is covered with about a foot of snow, and it is supposed to be in the 20s. We will run outside and then retreat indoors for conditioning. It starts this way every year!
I hope all the craziness of Monday is finished. I hope you all have a wonderful day!
What was the craziest thing that happened to you this weekend?
